  THE NEWS OF AFRICAN SYNERGIES
AFRICAN SYNERGY RECEIVES THE VISIT OF THE ITALIAN AMBASSADOR TO CAMEROON

His Excellency Antonio BELLAVIA, Italian Ambassador to Cameroon visited the Headquarters of the Association of African First Ladies, African Synergy against AIDS and Suffering on June 14th, 2007.

Antonio BELLAVIA, who recently arrived in Cameroon, wanted to get an insight of the collaboration between his country and AFRICAN SYNERGY.

Partner from the word “go”, according to Jean Stéphane BIATCHA, Italy supported this pan African Association during its creation in September 2002 through the participation of the eminent Italian Professor, Vittorio COLIZZI of the University of Tor Vergata in Rome, at the side of the discoverers of AIDS virus, the French Luc MONTAGNIER and the American Robert GALLO.

The support of the Italian government was reinforced with the creation of the CIRCB (Chantal BIYA International Reference Centre for Research on HIV/AIDS Prevention and Treatment) inaugurated on February 23rd, 2006 and a programme on technical, material and financial support.

This result is the outcome of the constant advocacy of AFRICAN SYNERGY started in September 2003, during the 60th Venice International Film Festival.

Very pleased by the concrete achievements of AFRICAN SYNERGY, the Italian diplomat reiterated the commitment of his government to always support this African initiative.

Coming some few weeks only after that of Georges SERRE French Ambassador to Cameroon, the visit of Antonio BELLAVIA and the International Conference jointly organised by AFRICAN SYNERGY and the Italian Institute for Africa and the Eastern World (IsIAO) in Rome on May 29 2007, under the theme “The Management of Health in Africa: New Forms of Partnerships”, are a testimony of the radiance and international recognition of the huge humanitarian work of H.E Mrs Chantal BIYA, and Her Sisters, African First Ladies, in favour of the destitute./-
